Machine Shop Trainee/Deburr

Machine Shop Trainee/Deburr
Minimum 3 months experience with deburring

Machinists work around high-speed machinery. They must stand much of the workday. Their work areas are generally well lit and ventilated but noisy. Machinists are exposed to machine oil, metal filings, and unpleasant odors. To prevent accidents or injury, machinists are required to wear protective gear, such as safety glasses and earplugs, and follow safety regulations. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Work areas must be well kept and clean.


1. Scan product under microscope to ensure compliance with established standards (i.e., engineering drawing, operating procedures, blue prints, etc.). Check for missing or damaged features,
poor finishes, excessive burrs, etc. Maintain, identify, select and secure proper work tools.
2. Deburr product as needed with established tooling and/or machines.
3. Perform any rework tasks as assigned (i.e. polishing, sorting).
4. Provide feedback to CNC machine operator(s) in regards to product quality so that adjustments to machine can be made.
5. Ensure that all documentation is in order (part number, revision, etc.) and is kept at the workstation. Enter data on production documents regarding quantity produced, hours worked, etc.
6. Perform general housekeeping in work areas (i.e. organize and clean work surfaces, etc.).
7. Clean and maintain work area and return tools to proper storage area.
8. Other duties and projects as assigned by management.

• Minimum 3 months experience with deburring
• Ability to work occasional over-time as determined by production scheduling
• Observes safety and security procedures
• Reports potentially unsafe conditions
• Uses equipment and materials properly
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
• Applies feedback to improve performance
• Monitors own work to ensure quality
Abilities required
• Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Work near moving mechanical parts.
